About the author

Mark Taylor grew up in Billings, Montana. He married into the Buehl family and he possesses Buehl's archive of papers and photographs. Mark had the opportunity to meet many of the people he wrote about or their descendants. His training and professional experience prepared him with skills to evaluate his sources and to report his findings.He earned a B.A. degree from Rocky Mountain College, with majors in art and English. Attending Cal Poly  Humboldt University, Mark obtained his master's degree in psychology. In his 35-year career serving rural eastern Montana, Mark operated a mental health center satellite office, and he worked as a specialist in more schools than he can remember. In 1997 he was Montana's School Psychologist of the Year. Now retired, Mark helped to found an independent bookstore in Billings, and he has written a biography of Ernest Herman Buehl Sr., a pioneer aviator.
